Hillcrest Christian School: Middle school

Our Middle School staff, under the direction of Principal Kathy Horan, is dedicated to offering the highest level of academic curriculum in order to prepare each student for the challenges of high school, and ultimately to fulfill God's plan for his or her life.

Students are block-scheduled in either a College Preparatory or Honors track, where they experience an intensive academic program that includes daily Bible instruction. PE and an elective round out the schedule; current year electives include Drama, Art, Home Economics, Teacher's Aide, and Computer Applications. All middle school students participate in the annual Hillcrest Science Fair and winners of that event go on to participate in the ACSI Southern District Fair at Biola University.

All 8th graders are invited on the annual U.S. Historic Study Tour, which features stops in Washington, D.C., Williamsburg, Monticello, Philadelphia, Jamestown, and New York City.

7th graders travel to San Diego for the annual Science Study Tour, where they visit Sea World, the Scripps Institute, the Tide Pools, and the San Diego Zoo.

For the student to be eligible for admission, at least one parent or guardian must be a Christian who desires a Christ-centered education and who agrees with and actively supports our statement of faith, guiding principles, and policies. Christian student, whose parents are not believers, who desire a Christian education, will be considered for admission.

All families seeking admission to HCS will fill out a pre-interview questionnaire. Families must present report cards, SATs, and any special education assessments as part of their pre-interview documentation.

The principal and/or interviewing teacher will meet with the parents and student together. There will also be teacher/student interview, and the principal will meet with the parents to answer questions and review school policies. Students will take a basic skills test focusing on mathematics, language, reading and writing skills
