By Ron Matthews, Elementary Principal Posted Tuesday, November 2, 2004 TWINKIES R US Hands-on learning in fifth grade. Mrs. Harrington’s fifth grade class works together on the Henry Ford assembly line and made “twinkie cars.” Student’s learned the value of teamwork in the mass production process. The body of the automobile was a twinkie, tires were lifesavers, pretzel sticks were used as axles, teddy grahams became the drivers.
Students are studying early transportation and how the assembly line eventually replaced people with automation. By the way, students ate the finished product! |
