Posted Tuesday, November 6, 2007 One of Mattel's Top Hot Wheels Designers Visits Kindergarten What could be more exciting than to have a visit from a Hot Wheels designer? Getting your very own custom HCS Hot Wheel, of course! This was a very busy week in Kindergarten. After Thursday’s hoe down, we were visited on Friday by one of our Kindergarten parents, Mr. Moran, one of Mattel’s top Hot Wheel designers. Mr. Moran, who may have been even more excited than our kindergartners, (or maybe the most excited was really VP Mr. Windle, a lifelong Hot Wheels collector) set up an elaborate race track complete with cars in Mrs. Thompson’s classroom.
Mr. Moran explained the design process to the students using a power point presentation, then the fun began as Mr. Moran began bringing students up to test their racing abilities on the track. Screams of excitement could be heard throughout the halls as prototypes of different sized cars ranging from mini Hot Wheels to large-scaled models were shown. The highlight of the day was definitely when Mr. Moran unveiled the Dinosaur racetrack where cars were launched up the speedway and devoured by the giant T-Rex. Eventually, the T-Rex opened his wide mouth and dropped all the cars with a loud roar.
We all thanked Mr. Moran as he gave each of us our very own Hot Wheel, even us “big kids”. To conclude the visit, Mr. Moran presented us with a very special gift: a one of a kind Hillcrest Hot Wheel. The car was custom painted in the Hillcrest blue and gold. All the kindergarten names were displayed, both students and teachers, and a special message recorded by Mr. Moran in the Hot Wheels sound studio placed carefully into the car can be heard each time the button is pressed. The car is fully equipped with remote control capabilities. Thank you Mr. Moran for this one-of-a-kind treat! |
