Hillcrest Christian School Preschool is unlike the majority of preschools in the Conejo Valley. Our preschool program is not purely a developmental experience, but also includes academics, as well, thus meeting the needs of the whole child.
Preschoolers enjoy an array of academic studies including Bible, pre-reading and reading skills, writing skills, and mathematics fundamentals. Enriching activities such as Spanish and computers, as well as arts and crafts are also key to the program's success. Preschoolers attend either a full day or 1/2-day program, with seasonal and study-related field trips experienced at least once a month.
We feature a spacious playground area dedicated to the preschool and kindergartenpopulation, which was completely remodeled over the summer of 2003. We also offer an extended childcare program both before and after school. We encourage and welcome parents to be involved in the classroom, thus rounding out the early-years experience at HCS.
Hillcrest Christian Preschool is a ministry to Christian families. For the student to be eligible for admission, at least one parent or guardian must be a Christian who desires a Christ-centered education and who agrees with and actively supports our statement of faith, guiding principles, and policies. Hillcrest Christian Preschool has been established to provide a safe, secure place for students to grow and learn by providing a loving and sound, carefully supervised, balanced program of activities in partnership with parents.
Our program is designed to nurture a child’s social and emotional growth as well as his physical and mental development. We believe that each child who enters our program is a unique and special gift of God, and that it is our privilege and responsibility to help him be the very best that the Lord would have him be. Children need to be at least three (3) years of age by September 1st and completely toilet trained to be eligible for admission. All families seeking admission to HCS will be provided with a “Statement of Faith” and a Pre-Interview questionnaire. Families are then asked to make an appointment with the preschool director to tour the facility and observe the preschool program during school class time with their child. This also serves as the interview of the child.
If all is in order, a registration packet of all required forms will be given to the parent to be completed and returned as soon as possible, and before the first day the child attends school. No child will be permitted to attend if there are missing or incomplete forms. Upon completion and acceptance of the required forms, payment of a non-refundable registration fee and the first month’s tuition, registration is considered complete.

Hillcrest Christian Preschool admits students of any race, color or national or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. Hillcrest Christian Preschool does not discriminate on the basis of race in administration of its educational policies, and other school-administered programs.
At Hillcrest Christian Preschool, curriculum is the basis for developing an effective, developmentally appropriate preschool program which includes teaching in all areas vital to the growth in the young child. Our program includes a Biblically integrated early childhood curriculum from A Beka, and Bible stories and teachings from Christian Schools International.
Our program features a strong emphasis on phonics as the basis for pre-reading and reading skills. Letter recognition, letter sound correlation, blends and phonics rules give the young student the tools he needs to read successfully. Similarly, our math program begins with the foundational building blocks of counting, one to one correlation, grouping of physical objects, and pattern recognition, all in preparation for numbers and mathematical operations.

It's an exciting time around the halls of Hillcrest. This is the time of year when we open enrollment to new families. Moms and dads are walking the halls with our staff touring the school, visiting classrooms, and learning all about our programs. Though in preschool we have an open enrollment policy throughout the school year, if you have a child who will be ready for school this coming year we recommend that you schedule a tour and set your interview now. Classes will fill quickly.
We're looking forward to meeting you. Call the school and schedule your appointment. 805-497-7502
