Hello! Welcome to fourth grade!

My name is Mrs. Peloquin and I am one of the fourth grade teachers here at Hillcrest Christian as well as the advisor for our Elementary Student Council. I graduated from the University of Laverne with a BA in Liberal Studies and then earned my teaching credential from there a few years later. Altogether I have four cleared teaching credentials and three preliminary credentials as well as a Masters Degree in Psychology from Grand Canyon University. I taught at the high school level before teaching at HCS for subjects such as Psychology, Health Science, English, Child Development and Career Education. I have enjoyed the calling to bring my talents to fourth grade and have had an incredible year serving in a new setting where I am able to put all that I have learned to practice with these special students. When I'm not at school, I'm enjoying family time with my husband, Juston, and our three children who also attend Hillcrest. With one in High School, one in Middle School and one in Elementary, I see the amazing things that the Lord is doing on our campus and I'm so blessed to be a small part of it. I am so excited to welcome you into my classroom and to our school and go on this awesome 4th grade adventure with you where we learn about what it means to be a Child of God and how important He is in every single subject. Welcome to fourth grade! I look forward to having you as part of our HCS family!

My favorite Bible verse:
"Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them!"
-Psalm 127:4-5a

Teacher(s): Chrissy Peloquin & Sophia Lemos

The fourth grade is an exciting year as students officially move into “upper elementary.” During this year students learn how to become organized and independent workers. They get the opportunity to be entrusted with more freedom and responsibility as they learn independent study skills, how to record their own work in daily planners, and even get to become a “big” buddy for the first time to the first graders.

In fourth grade we will focus on mastering the skills from previous years followed by beginning more complex academic content like basic algebra, 5 paragraph writing, fractions, and in-depth literature analysis. Another major focus in fourth grade is learning California history which will culminate in a 3 day trip to the capital with stops in Sacramento, San Francisco, and panning for gold in Coloma. It is a trip students look forward to and remember their whole lives!  Lastly, and most importantly, fourth grade is a great year for students to begin developing a strong Biblical worldview. At this age we can begin to explore what God and the Bible have to say about every aspect of our lives in a deeper way and will do a focused study on servanthood and what it means to be a servant in every area of our life.
