Hello, my name is Jack Zeidman.

I was born in Maine, but I grew up in the Los Angeles area. I received my advanced degree (in Educational Psychology) from CSUN and began teaching shortly after graduating. I have taught almost every grade level, and I’ve administered group and individualized educational programs.

I am a writer of fantasy, including a high-interest/low-vocabulary series, a collection of
short stories, a screenplay, individual short stories, and some poetry.

Jesus is the love of my life. I try to study the Bible each day, and I strive to maintain a
healthy, vibrant prayer life. Sharing my faith with other people is one of my greatest joys.

I am looking forward to an exciting school year this year. Guided by God, and encouraged by our cornerstone values of character and respect, we will be immersing ourselves in the content of the appropriate 5 th Grade curriculum while revisiting information and concepts learned during the course of previous grade levels. Occasionally, we will explore concepts that extend beyond our grade-specific curriculum. I pray that the children will accomplish educational goals that they never imagined they could achieve, and that every child will derive joy and excitement from the processes of learning, not just from the products of his/her efforts.

I thank my Lord and Savior for bringing me to Hillcrest Christian School, and for blessing me with the wonderful privilege of being your child’s teacher. I will endeavor to provide him/her with the best education possible. May our gracious God shine His light upon us during the coming months. When the school year is over, I pray that every student will feel that his/her life has been deeply enriched by what he/she has learned at HCS and that each child has developed a closer, deeper walk with Jesus Christ --- the ultimate teacher!

Elementary Program

Teacher(s): DeeAnn De La Rosa & Jack Zeidman

Fifth grade is a transitional year for our students as they learn to apply executive function skills to their learning experience. During this year, students learn how to apply information learned to their lives using higher level thinking processes.  Our fifth grade program is designed to allow students to apply Biblical principles learned to their lives on a daily basis.

During the fifth grade year we will focus on how to learn and apply information learned.  Students strive for academic excellence in all subjects in addition to expanding their spiritual development.  Fifth grade field trips include an “in school” Walk Through the American Revolution experience, visit to the Reagan Library, and exploration of the historic Stagecoach Inn Museum.  Students culminate the year with an overnight field trip to Riley’s Farm for an American Revolutionary War experience.  These trips integrate the Social Studies curriculum covered throughout the year.  These opportunities are a wonderful transition as the fifth grade  prepares students for more independence in their academics and spiritual growth.
