Hillcrest Christian High School is committed to offering a rigorous academic program taught by dedicated Christian teachers intent on preparing students for the academic and spiritual challenges of college life. In addition to a strong academic foundation, HIllcrest strives to teach students to be independent thinkers who make decisions based on the truth of God’s word versus cultural norms, to lead by example, and ultimately to fulfill God’s plan for his or her life.

Spiritually, Hillcrest strives to give students varied experiences and opportunities to grow in their faith. A broad range of Bible classes, weekly chapel services with outstanding speakers, an annual high school retreat, regular small group discussions led by a teacher/mentor, a spiritual life director available to meet with students, and summer mission trips help students grow and mature in their relationship with God. All subjects are taught from a Biblical worldview, helping students to understand the breadth of God’s influence on our world and to view all of life through the lens of Biblical truth.

Hillcrest has courses at both the college preparatory and Honors/Advanced Placement levels to meet the individual academic needs of the student. Our CP program meets minimum entrance requirements at most colleges and universities; the honors and AP classes offer an additional challenge to students who have demonstrated exceptional academic promise. All core academic courses are listed on the UC A-G and NCAA approved course lists. The academic success of our graduates is evident in the wide variety of college acceptances and scholarship offerings received by our seniors every year. Guiding students in their evaluation of colleges that are the right fit for them academically and environmentally is equally important. HCS alumni frequently report back that they were well prepared for the rigors of college and have chosen well. Click the “Graduation Success” tab for a list of colleges where Hillcrest graduates have been accepted.

Our course offerings include a complete range of core academic subjects plus four years of Bible and electives such as art, drama, film, computer, robotics, worship band, and yearbook. Our average student: teacher ratio in the high school classes is 14:1. The National Honor Society, California Scholarship Federation, and Associated Student Body provide additional opportunities for students to grow in leadership, serve others, and make a difference.  In addition, we offer an accredited Independent Study Program that gives home-school students an opportunity to participate in higher-level academic classes, electives, and/or extracurricular programs.
