Hillcrest Christian Saints jumped out to an early lead on Trona and captured a 21-3 victory on Thursday, May 21, at Cal Lutheran. With 18 runs in the first three innings, Hillcrest Christian Saints left no doubt about the eventual outcome.
A wild pitch, an error, an RBI double by Zach Hawkins, an error, and an RBI single by Jimmy Walters in the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Spencer Hopkins, a wild pitch, a passed ball, and an RBI single by Hunter Wiemann during the second inning helped Hillcrest Christian Saints Varsity put some runs on the board early.
Luke DeWitt racked up two RBIs on three hits for Hillcrest Christian Saints. He singled in the first and second innings and tripled in the third inning.
Trona had no answer for Spencer Hopkins, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Hopkins held Trona hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Ryan Hagge got the win for Hillcrest Christian Saints. He allowed three runs over 4 2/3 innings. He struck out 10, walked five and surrendered three hits.
Hillcrest Christian Saints easily handled Trona pitching as seven hitters combined for 14 hits, 11 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
