Athletic Director, Brady Day give us an early season update on varsity girls’ volleyball and varsity boys’ football teams. Both varsity teams are off to a GREAT start to the 2016 season.  Check the schedules and come out to support both of these very competitive varsity teams.

The 2016 HCS girls volleyball team is off to a GREAT start. On August 30, the team won its first match of the season 3-0 against San Fernando Valley Academy. Senior Kirsten Mueller led the way with 15 kills and 5 aces and senior Leigha Kunkel had 21 assists, 6 aces and 3 kills.

On Thursday September 1,  the team played last years CIF runner-up Tarbut V Torah, the team that  knocked the Saints out of the playoffs in the semi-final round last year. The Saints shined in this year’s rematch as the girls won the match 3-1. Kirsten Mueller had 16 kills, 13 digs, 3 assists and 2 solo blocks. This was a very BIG win for the team heading into the 2016 season.

Varsity Boys' Football Team2016 Varsity Boys’ Football

The 2016 varsity boys football team is off to a GREAT start to the season as well. The team opened the season with a huge 74-0 win over Cornerstone Christian on August 26. Senior Cody Timm rushed for 164 yards and 3 TD, senior Troy Brown caught 3 passes for 94 yards and 3TD. On the defensive side of the ball Junior Chris Alballat had 8 tackles and 1 interception.

On Friday night, September 2,  the varsity boys football team traveled to Palm Springs and played last years CIF runner-up Desert Chapel. It was a cool 100* at game time but the Saints pulled off a great 74-48 win. Senior Cody Timm rushed for 314 yards and 5 TD, Troy Brown had 245 all purpose yards and 3 TD and 19 tackles. Quarterback Ryan Hagge threw for 163 yards and 3 TD. The team has a bye this week and will play Flintridge Prep on Friday September 16.
