Secondary Chapel Week of September 1, 2025

Good Morning Saints, 

In today's chapel we will be discussing the attribute of God’s “loving-kindness” or “loyal love”. It is the Hebrew word “hessed” (חֶסֶד). It is one of four Hebrew words used to describe God's love in the old testament. This Hebrew word conveys the idea of going beyond what duty requires and lavishing unexpected favors on others simply because you care for them. This is basically God’s love in action. As we continue our theme of knowing and loving God I pray we can grow in our devotion and love for Him. Our main text will be from 2 Samuel 9 (David’s kindness to Mephibosheth). We will finish our ice breaker from last week before we start. Please see the suggested small group agenda below.

As a reminder, we are examples for our students. We get the wonderful opportunity and privilege of being the Lord’s ambassadors to these students. Thank you for your labor of love to our students. May the Lord bless our time together.

Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance.

Romans 2:4 ESV

1. What are examples of God’s love going beyond duty to pursue people? You?
2. Do you believe you are worth God pursuing? Why or why not? 
3. How should God’s loving-kindness affect the way we see and view God? How should it impact our lives?
