Hillcrest Christian School Board of Directors
The Board of Directors primarily sets the governing policies for Hillcrest Christian School. The Board of Directors supervises and evaluates the school’s chief executive officer, the Head of School. Other duties include defining and periodically reevaluating the school’s mission and major goals, strategic plan, and the budget and policy statements. In addition, the Board of Directors ensures that the organization obtains the resources necessary to meet the strategic plan.
School Board Members
Tony Hershman joined the board in May of 2013 and is now the board president. Tony is married to Linda and has two sons, Chase and Josh. The boys have attended Hillcrest since Josh was in pre-school and Chase was in 2nd grade. Chase graduated in 2016 and is attending Masters University. Tony and his family attend Calvary Chapel Godspeak in Newbury Park. At their prior church Tony served in Men’s Leadership and on church counsel, as well as the on the board of the Simi Crisis Pregnancy Center for several years. Tony is a real estate investor and leads a ministry that helps youth aging out of foster care and youth corrections. In his free time, Tony enjoys spending time with family and building things.
Rich Person grew up in Washington state and graduated from George Fox University. From there he went on to earn his Ph.D. in organic chemistry from University of Nevada and a law degree from Southern Methodist University. Rich and his wife Kelly and their three daughters (Aliyah, Anjoli and Avonli) have lived in Thousand Oaks for seventeen years and attend Calvary Chapel Calabasas Church, where he is a member of the worship team. Rich currently works as a patent attorney for Amgen.
Gina Whitehouse joined our Board of Directors in October of 2017. Gina is married to Caleb and has two children at Hillcrest. Prior to having children, Gina worked as a residential home designer and received her Bachelor’s of Architecture from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and a Graduate Certificate in Biblical Studies from Talbot Seminary, Biola University. Gina currently has her own business and works from home. She enjoys traveling to new places, hiking, cooking, reading non-fiction books, and playing music. Both Gina and her husband Caleb attend The Rock Community Church where they are both members of the worship team. Gina has also leads Bible studies and is frequently a featured speaker at women’s ministry events.
Mario Schweizer joined the board in July of 2018. Mario is married to Jenni, and has three children who have attended Hillcrest since 2014 when he and his family moved to Thousand Oaks. After a career in the Marines, he used the GI Bill to attend Pepperdine University. Since graduating with his MBA, Mario works for the Bank of America in Small Business sales. He and his family attend Anthem Thousand Oaks, where they enjoy leading one of the community groups. Mario’s spare time is centered around his family and working on DIY projects, as well as fitness and a bit of surfing.
Tom Logan joined the Board in 2018. Tom, a Hillcrest alumni, graduated in 2001. His mom, Judy Logan was a teacher at Hillcrest and his father, Steve Logan served on the board. He is married to Jenna Logan and has 3 boys, Andrew (10), Austin (7), and Alexander (2) all currently attending Hillcrest. He attends Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village. Tom owns and operates his own State Farm Insurance Agency in Camarillo. He enjoys spending time with his family and anything related to Basketball.
