Education Background: I received my undergraduate degree from Auburn University with a BS in Education. Awarded Teacher of the Year by Santa Rosa Christian School, 2005. Awarded Johns Hopkins University Sarah D. Barter Fellow, 2006. I completed Biology By The Sea (Seashore Ecology) at Point Loma University, 2010-2011. Educational Experience: I worked in public schools in Alabama and California. Because I enjoy incorporating a Christian world-view in my science classes I decided to switch into Christian schools. I have taught many subjects, including cooking classes to children and also adults at Clovis Adult School. I partnered with Kaiser Permanente to teach mothers of celiac children how to safely transition to gluten-free cooking. For many years I was an administrator at two Christian schools. When you work at Christian schools, then you wear many hats! All About Me: Science has been my passion since I was in the second grade. I loved, and still do, spending time outside to pray, discover, and feel God’s presence. My grandfather played a key role in my coming to Christ. My husband and I married in 1985. We have three adult children. I enjoy studying God’s Word, taking long walks, cooking Vietnamese and Korean foods, oil painting, playing card games, and reading (usually mystery stories). My life’s goal is to bring Him glory and to lead others to Christ. |

The Hillcrest Science Department provides a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum with engaging high-quality instruction that emphasizes hands-on, project-based learning with real world connections. Understanding science is a necessity in the world today. We challenge our students to be actively engaged in the learning process by asking questions, making observations, and connecting learning to their own lives so they can appreciate science and math, and persevere in an ever-changing world. With a wide variety of science courses including Anatomy and Physiology, Environmental Science, Marine Biology, and Sports Medicine, students are offered a supportive and collaborative learning environment in order to cultivate an excitement and appreciation for science as a dynamic and fundamental discipline.
