A MESSAGE FROM MRS. HORAN

As you walked through the doors, were you amazed at the transformation that has taken place in the building over the summer? Thank you to all of the families who made this happen whether it be through participation in the spring fundraisers over the last two years or the physical labor that went into helping move furniture and boxes in and out of the classrooms as rooms were painted and carpeted or perhaps both. Jesse, Santos, and Don Matheson worked many hours alongside their student and parent helpers during the month of July through August 15 when the teachers returned for in-service. As I looked at freshly painted classrooms, new carpeting, and new lockers on the main campus, I would like to recognize the hours of effort that Monica Bjork put in over the summer to coordinate the painters and carpet layers within the time frame that we needed to be ready.

Aside from the physical facility, we are introducing a brand new technology program that will begin this year in K-6 and expand into the middle and high school grades. Students will learn how to use the computer as a tool for life long learning which is one of the HCS ESLRs . If you are interested in learning more detail, please check out Beyond Technology Education at www.beyondteched.com.

Our educational emphasis continues to be teaching our students how to look at the world and their studies through a Biblical lens. I would like you to plan on being on campus on October 6 at 7:00 PM to hear Ben Schettler as he helps to equip parents and teachers as they strive to assist their children and students navigate through the pitfalls of popular culture.

The Hillcrest faculty and staff are excited to see what God will do in us and in our students this year. We look forward to partnering with you in training your children to know, love, and serve our Lord Jesus Christ. Please remember that we are always willing to hear from you when things are going well of course, but more importantly when issues arise. Our desire is to live in Christian community with our Hillcrest family.
