Hillcrest Christian School (HCS) is a non-profit, private co-educational, college preparatory school that spans services from infants through high school. HCS is accredited by both the Association of Christian Schools International and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. In operation since 1977, there are approximately 300 students making our student-to-teacher ratio one that is able to offer more focused attention for students as well as many opportunities for students to experience academic excellence and success, spiritual growth, and a caring environment. HCS intentionally strives to serve Christian families who are committed to a church body. Thousand Oaks is a suburb approximately 45 miles northwest of Los Angeles, California.

Elementary Teacher:

- Execute effective classroom management.
- Participate collaboratively and professionally with other faculty and staff to promote rigorous learning opportunities, the general well-being of the school, and collective/individual interest of its staff and student body.
- Integrate a Biblical worldview across all subjects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or equivalent.

- Should be caring, energetic, and have a passion for working with children
- Must be able to teach about Jesus
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must have High School Diploma or General Education Diploma.
- Must hold 6 completed units of early childhood education OR 2 completed units of early childhood education each semester following initial employment and continuation in an educational program until fully qualified
- Must have 3 units in infant/toddler education/development
- Must hold and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.
Fully Qualified Preschool Teacher:
Qualifications
- Should be caring, energetic, and have a passion for working with children
- Must be able to teach about Jesus
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Must have 12 core semester units in early childhood education/development OR 6 completed units of early childhood education and enrolled in at least 2 semester units at a college until fully qualified
- Must have 3 units in infant/toddler education/development
- Must have 6 months experience in a licensed child care center or comparable group child care program
- Must hold and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.
Secondary English Teacher:

Other responsibilities as assigned by the English Department Chair, Vice Principal, and Head of School.

- Deliver lessons and units of instruction that are based on clear learning objectives.
- Assess student progress on a regular basis, providing progress reports and report cards as required.
- Execute standardized testing, as directed by the English Department Chair and the Leadership Team.
- Collaborate and communicate on a weekly basis with colleagues in the English department, including the Department Chair. Topics for collaboration include, but are not limited to, curriculum, instruction, assessment, data analysis, and methodology.
- Implement the school’s assertive discipline model for classroom management.
- Attend all staff meetings and participate in staff development programs.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the English Department Chair, Vice Principal, and Head of School.
Requirements and Licensure
- At least a bachelor’s degree in English.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.
- Ability to write reports and correspondences.
- Ability to evaluate information and determine/recommend an appropriate course of action.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff and the community.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all school requirements, state and federal laws, and HCS policies.
- Experience evaluating student skills and writing reports interpreting/summarize findings.
