Hillcrest Christian offers students several opportunities to pursue their interests and talents, develop leadership skills, and make lifelong friendships through participation in the following clubs and organizations.
National Honor Society (NHS)
The National Honor Society is the leader among educational organizations that promote recognition for students who reflect outstanding accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
As a member of the Hillcrest Chapter of the National Honor Society, students are expected to dedicate themselves to servant leadership in their school and community. Serving lunch at the Ventura County Rescue Mission, Packing care boxes with Children’s Hunger Fund, and donating time to tutor fellow students are just some of the ways these students share the love of Christ with others!

Drama Club
The Hillcrest Christian Drama Club, officially chartered with the school in 2017, was founded to offer an opportunity for students to experience the business side of running a musical theater production. At the beginning of the year, officers are elected who will serve throughout the year. Officers include President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and the Historian who is in charge of preserving items from each show. The unity of the actors, set design crew and tech crew is very important and the Drama Club allows the different elements of a show to work together for the good of the production. Additionally, the goal of the Club is to expand interest in the program within the school population, and to explore ways to use our talents in service to the community by offering free performances for charity groups and churches.
Christian Leadership Program (New!)
Seniors who take part in this course will be trained, equipped, and taught about what it truly means to be a Christian leader. Students will have the opportunity to implement what they learn by partnering with the Spiritual Life Director to plan and take part in elementary and secondary chapels, fall retreats, service opportunities, and other Spiritual Life events that take place at Hillcrest Christian School. Students will build their confidence, learn to work on a team, and learn how to implement their Christian leadership skills their entire lives.
ASB
The Associated Student Body is first and foremost an opportunity for students to develop leadership skills and apply them in various ways while representing the interests and goals of the student body. ASB is made up of officers, President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Chaplain, in addition to representatives from each class. The election of officers is held in the spring, and it is the goal that through the election process, students will see democracy in action. In order to be considered for an office, students must secure the recommendation of a teacher, file a form stating their reasons for running and give a speech at the ASB Convention. Each member of ASB must maintain high academic standards and represent the student body with honor.
Officers, members and the ASB Advisor meet weekly with the purpose of planning and executing activities that not only unify the school, but offer fun and meaningful events throughout the year. Some of the many activities that ASB organizes are Homecoming, Spirit Week, grade level competitions, prom and community service projects. Past service projects have included partnering with James Storehouse and their ministry with foster youth.
The Junior High counterpart to ASB is Junior High Leadership. Similar in description to ASB, JH Leadership focuses on raising funds for charitable causes. Through Valentine Grams and the March Madness Basketball Tournament, Leadership was able to donate over $700 to the Union Rescue Mission's Hope Gardens Birthday Party Ministry.

Discipleship Groups Grades 7 - 12
The Faculty at Hillcrest has a heart and a desire to walk alongside each individual student as they navigate life during their jr. high and high school years. Students in grades seven through twelve are placed into grade-level groups and meet every other week with their discipleship group leader. During their time together, students pray, discuss important issues, and dig deep into scripture as they learn what it means to truly follow Jesus.
HCS Family Groups Grades K - 12
The Spirit of Community as part of the HCS chapel program, “Family Groups” gives students a unique opportunity to meet several times each year in groups that include students from various grade levels in kindergarten through grade twelve accompanied by two staff members. The groups, each named after a different animal, meet periodically for a special chapel where they sit together with their group as Bears, Dogs, or Butterflies, etc., dress alike, and bond as a school family.
Students worship and hear from the Bible during chapel presentation and then meet to discuss the chapel topic, play games, and fellowship. Throughout the school year, the groups also plan a year-end service project that reaches out to assist those in our local community at rest homes and food banks as well as to send care packages to troops and orphans around the world.
Benefits of the program include serving others and building relationships between younger and older students. Students remain in the same group from year to year, with new students added to the existing groups each year.
One year after its inception, HCS received an Exemplary Program Award from ACSI for its Family Groups chapel program. Family Groups allow students to experience and practice community and help them reach beyond their peer group to connect with others within the Hillcrest family.
