Favorite  Verse: I do not have a single favorite verse; however, my current favorite verse as it applies to science is Proverbs 25:2 “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.”

Education Background: 
  • B.S. in Biology, concentration in Marine Biology, Minor in Chemistry
  • M.A. in Secondary Education- Science Curriculum and Instruction
  • California Clear Teaching Credential for Science and Health

Educational Experience:
  • I started teaching preschoolers when I was in fourth grade, and haven’t stopped teaching since!  I taught for four years in LAUSD before coming to HCS in 2021.

All About Me:
  • I am passionate about teaching science.  I love being able to help students develop their critical thinking skills and their Biblical worldview, as these are essential to living life to its fullest.  In my free time (haha) I like to sleep, cook, read, and scrapbook.  I am married to my high school sweetheart, Steven, and we have three boys who all attend HCS.

The Hillcrest Science Department provides a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum with engaging high-quality instruction that emphasizes hands-on, project-based learning with real world connections. Understanding science is a necessity in the world today. We challenge our students to be actively engaged in the learning process by asking questions, making observations, and connecting learning to their own lives so they can appreciate science and math, and persevere in an ever-changing world. With a wide variety of science courses including Anatomy and Physiology, Environmental Science, Marine Biology, and Sports Medicine, students are offered a supportive and collaborative learning environment in order to cultivate an excitement and appreciation for science as a dynamic and fundamental discipline.
